Rose of winter

Camellia japonica, also known as 'Rose of winter', is an evergreen shrub with leathery leaves and large, aromatic flowers. The flowers are commonly used in bouquets. Camellias flower early (February/April).
Roses of winter prefer a sheltered location (against wind and direct sunlight) and prefer regular watering. To ensure that they make it through harsh winters, cover the plants during severe frost, so that flower buds are protected against cold. Camellias thrive in full soil.
