The Strelitzia

Strelitzia is one of the most tropical and graceful indoor plants. The bird of paradise plant owes its name to the colourful flowers that grow on the plant. These flowers are reminiscent of the graceful birds of paradise. However, some Strelitzia species can only flower from the age of eight. After a flowering period, it can take up to 12 months for the plant to flower again. Nevertheless, Strelitzia is a hugely popular indoor plant. The leaves of this plant are beautiful by themselves.

This houseplant likes a lot of light and is therefore best placed in front of a window. To keep the plant looking good, you can occasionally trim the brown edges on the leaves. You can also cut the leaf stem 2 centimetres above the core, which will encourage the growth of the rest of the plant.
