Description
The Beccariophoenix alfredii is a recently discovered palm species, closely related to the genus Cocos. It occurs in the High Plateau of Madagascar, where it grows at an elevation of 1.050m (3000 feet). It is therefore a rare palm in nature! It is very similar in appearance to the coconut palm, making it a good look-alike for the coconut in cooler climates.
