Spathodea campanulata

Spathodea campanulata is a beautiful ornamental tree. Since this tree is not hardy, it is kept as a tub or houseplant. It is common in the African tropics where it is also called The Flame of the Forest because of its exuberant inflorescence. These trees are very striking and stand out from far away between all the rest of the greenery. The flowers are mostly a beautiful deep red, but with sown specimens it is also possible that there are orange to almost yellow flowers. After sowing the tree can give its first flowers after 5 years. Since the tree blossoms so beautifully and gracefully and is widely used for medical purposes, it is to be found throughout the world in increasing numbers.
