Phormium tenax variegatum is known as New Zealand flax. its beautiful, long leafblades will bring additional colour to your garden. Make sure that the soil is not too wet during winter. It is often placed in city gardens due to its drought resistance. After warm summers, New Zealand flax can even flower, though this is rare in northern Europe.
