Musa Red Dacca - Rode banaan

This banana is very special because of its peel. The peel is red or purple-red in colour, making it stand out compared to normal yellow bananas. The creamy flesh is also reddish in colour, although a lot lighter than the peel. Red Dacca is sweeter than the common Cavendish banana and has more vitamin C. This Musa requires a lot of water.

Fruits only grow in warmer climates. They have quite some requirements for those who wish to grow the fruits. These include stable, warm (but not hot) temperatures, a lot of water, rich soil and plenty of space. It's a good idea to grow a cluster of plants together, as they grow much better when 'sheltered' by other plants.
