Fargesia jiuzhaigou is a non-invasive bamboo that is particularly popular due to its colour and growth. This red Fargesia bamboo does not reach higher than about 3 metres tall and 1 metre wide. Its upright growth means it requires little pruning to keep it in shape. It is hardy and evergreen, making it very suitable for use as a hedge. It is popular mainly because of its colour; the bamboo stems are red of colour and turn orange-yellow.
