Albizia julibrissin Summer Chocolate - Persian silk tree
The Albizia julibrissin Summer Chocolate is a exceptional tree with exotic flowers striking left shape and colour. This beautiful Persian 'sleeping tree' has beautiful dark brown-red leaves with mysterious pink coloured flowers. The leaves fold shut as the sun goes down - hence the name 'sleeping tree'.
In my own garden, this tree proved to be much hardier than expected. In the winter of 2012-2013 my unprotected Evi's Purple lost but the Summer Chocolate did not succumb. In 2006 the Albizia julibrissin Summer Chocolate was awarded the 'Best New Market Tree Introduction!
