Good in containers. Agave horrida ssp. perotensis is a relatively easy-to-grow species. It needs a very well-drained soil and is hardy to -7° C (or colder), particularly when dry. It grows fairly quickly in summer if provided with copious water but allow to dry thoroughly before watering again. During the winter months, one should only water enough to keep the leaves from shrivelling. These plants do well in full sun or a lightly shaded area. Plants cultivated outdoors are drought tolerant and tolerate blasting heat and full sun. In cultivation this species gives few problems at a lower temperature.
