Associated with Japanese gardens, the Acers or Maples are one of our best loved trees, suited to both small and large gardens. Their delicate, translucent leaves sit well on arching shrubs which slowly grow to small trees. The rich buds arrive in spring and each variety boasts a different colour and pattern of leaf which slowly changes to sometimes vivid reds in autumn. A true delight of the seasons, our maple trees are unmissable in your garden!

Acer cappadocicum 'Aureum'

Acer conspicuum 'Red Flamingo'

Snakebark maple 'Red Flamingo'

The 'Red Flamingo' is very attractive because of its deep red young shoots which develop white, wavy lines as they mature.

In spring the leaves emerge in attractive pink hues. As the year progresses, the colour of the leaves change to a slightly darker pink and white, contrasting beautifully with the green parts of the leaves.

The bark is, just like the young shoots, red and white markings, which looks stunning right into winter.

Mature plants are not expected to exceed 8 feet (2.5 feet). Its small size makes it an ideal container plant, or a focal point in a small garden.

Acer palmatum 'Katsura'

Japanese Maple tree

When they first appear in spring, this plant's lobed leaves are a bright orange, but they quickly turn to an orange-flushed yellow with a pink edge. As the spring progresses the colour deepens to a rich green, but then in autumn the whole leaf changes colour again, taking on a bright orange hue before it drops.

This is an excellent tree for small gardens and large patio containers!
